Meet the Doctor
My name is Dr Brad Pritchard. I've been a practicing Chiropractor for 15 years now, all of those spent in Calgary, the city in which I grew up. My experience with chiropractic started when I was 17 years old. As I went to get out of bed one morning, I found that I almost couldn't. I hadn't realized it but I had injured my low back and was in significant pain. At that time a good friend of the family had become a Chiropractor and just opened an office close to our house. I had no idea what it was about but I was willing to try. And I'm sure glad I did because it made such a huge difference immediately! At that point I didn't understand the necessity for maintenance, or wellness care, but I continued to get regular adjustments. Over time I saw a difference in my health. I wasn't a sickly kid but I did suffer from "hay fever" in the summers and I was frequently getting colds and flues. As I got older my colds turned into bronchitis and sometimes pneumonia. I also had allergies to cats and dogs. As I continued on my health journey, with chiropractic at the center, I noticed that I got sick less and less and that my allergies were disappearing. My body and immune system became stronger and stronger.
I had never considered chiropractic as a career choice, especially with all the science classes involved (I really didn't enjoy science at all). However, it all started to become clear to me when my mom was having stomach and heart trouble. She had gone to many different medical doctors and specialists and all they came up with was; “we have no answer so it must be in your head." I told her that she should try chiropractic, "I don't know if they can help, but what do you have to lose?'
After a month or 2 she was close to 100%! I realized then, that I needed to look into chiropractic, because I now felt a calling as to what I was to do with my life. It all started by taking high school Chemistry at night school. I was then accepted at the University of Calgary and later at Palmer College of Chiropractic - West in San Jose, California.
I spent 4 years in San Jose, studying chiropractic and graduated with the Clinical Excellence award. After leaving "sunny" California and heading home, I worked in a couple of different practices. I now practice at Oak Bay Family Chiropractic, where I maintain one of the busiest family wellness practices in the city.
I have been married for 10 fantastic years to my lovely wife Nancy, and we have two great young children, Bailey and Ashton. I love spending time with my family as well as time on the golf course.
